Hello my lovely Velvetboxters!!!!!!!!!

I wanted to take a second to come on here myself and catch up with you!  We've been working soooooooooo hard and I haven't had a chance to chat with you here in a bit.  Shame on me!

How 'bout this VBOX BUZZ!!!  Man...I can't even remember how many different languages I've seen the press release in, since Fergal joined the band!  Yes, we are all unbelievably excited in the VBOX camp!!!!  Fergal's flight to Canada has been booked, we're scheduled to be in the lovely confines of our theater rehearsal room soon and then ...we'll be together with you!!!

Phil, Daryl, Fergal and I are very excited to welcome you to our industry showcase in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada on Thursday, November 27th!!  It's a very important show for us...and frankly, I can't wait to play ZB's again!!!  27 York Street in the market.

Come close ...let's share the warmth!!!  We've got some fun surprises for you...new merch, etc...!!!!  Stick around afterward so we can toast the evening together!

In conjunction with the press gathering at the Ottawa International Airport tomorrow, Thursday, November 20th, 2008 at 2:30 p.m. eastern standard time, Signal Hill Records & Associates offer the following statement.

We are very proud to welcome Fergal Lawler, from the world popular Irish group, The Cranberries, to Canada. We are honoured to welcome Fergal into our family in his new journey as a member of Velvetbox.  We are excited at the developments of this relationship and thrilled at the prospects for the future of Velvetbox.  Lawson, Phil, Daryl and Fergal truly make an awesome team.  They are steadfast, unalterable and unyielding with their vision and drive to accomplish their goals.  We wish them all the best and are privileged to endorse such talent.

With respect to Lawson Carroll's recent appointment as an O Ambassador by Oprah Winfrey's "Oprah's Angel Network" and Craig and Marc Kielburgers' "Free the Children", we want to congratulate him on his sense of compassion and caring for the world. 

Lawson has had a very well documented involvement with Free the Children and other social justice initiatives both through his work as an educator and in his music.  There is much evidence in the media files that will serve as a testament to that. 

Signal Hill Records & Associates want to pronounce their unconditional support for Lawson's humanistic endeavours and offer him all the encouragement needed to fulfill his work as an educator and the ideas that permeate his work as a musical artist. 

That said, it is important to the integrity of all organizations to reinforce that they are separate entities.  Yes, Signal Hill Records & Associates, Oprah's Angel Network, Free the Children and any other organizations and affiliates involved in the O Ambassador undertaking may have similar visions and may, indeed, support the same initiatives, but they are fundamentally, separate corporations.  We are affiliates working together for common goals.

Signal Hill Records & Associates feel at this time, with so much enthusiasm around Velvetbox, that it is important to illustrate these dynamics in order to preserve the integrity of our respective organizations.  Particularly, as Lawson, in the context of being an educator, has very tangible work that he is doing with his O Ambassador student group in that context.  The dignity of the students, the corporations, their right to freedom of expression and the concrete, invaluable work that is being done to make the world a better place, must be observed, as it is truly sacred. 

In closing, Fergal, welcome to Canada.  Welcome to Velvetbox.  Welcome to a world without borders.  May you, Lawson, Phil and Daryl embark on a life long journey that is filled with hope and prosperity.

Hey youwwwwwwaaaa!!!

Fergal just arrived in the nation's capital!!!!  We braved the coldest day of the year so far...and headed down to a cool spot called the Blue Cactus ...in the market... for some fine dining!!

After finishing our meals with tea and chocolate I introduced him to Zaphod's where we will play the showcase on November 27th!!!  I loved when we stood on the stage he said, "We're gonna blow them away" ..with the coolest of Irish brogues!!  Getting chills remembering that right now as I am writing!!

We strolled through the market to the eloquent confines of the Mercury Lounge!  Complete with 25 foot ceilings, Velvet curtains, violet lamps and cozy couches that you melt into!!  My good friend Sara was in...we chatted...and...we are confirmed!!  (please note..this is a secret at the moment!!  ...but ...here comes the official leak...)  After we meet and greet our friends, families and fans around the merch table at the showcase...we will slide over to the Merc for the after partaaaaaaay!!!  It will be as delicious as chocolate covered strawberries and elderberry wine!!

Hurry though...it will be limited admittance ...and the pass word phrase is...
"Are you wearing Velvetbox tonight?"

VELVETBOX OPPORTUNITIES....SIGNAL HILL RECORDS RELEASE

The Velvetbox Industry Showcase was brilliant!!!  The fans were awesome and the industry attention is now, even more incredible than before!!  There will be pictures, a video and more coming soon!!  And of course, Velvetbox merchandise is always available through orders here <http://www.myspace.com/velvetboxmusic> and through <velvetbox.ca>.

There have been a ton of industry folks contacting us... including management, entertainment lawyers, record companies, publicists, distributor, radio and tv personalities, press, etc...  We are talking to everyone at the moment...and listening to all of the offers!!  We encourage all those who would like to be involved in the world of Velvetbox to contact us through the contact information (below) at their earliest convenience as momentum is certainly building!!

That said, in the world of entertainment, it is very important to be organized and flexible.  While there are strict time lines for Velvetbox, Lawson has been offered some very exciting modeling and acting opportunities of late that could also play a big part in the success of Velvetbox.   And Lawson will also be busy with his social justice initiatives that are dear to his heart.  As you know, he has recently been appointed an O Ambassador by Oprah Winfrey and Craig Kielburger.  Therefore, it has been decided that he will pursue these ventures while simultaneously working on the exciting new Velvetbox release due this spring!!!  In the meantime, the "Special Limited Edition Sampler" is a must have, as it is a very important part of the Velvetbox journey!!

With any talented all-star lineup such as Lawson Carroll, Fergal Lawler, Phil White and Daryl Deskin, it is understandable that each of the boys just as in the case of Lawson's other ventures, have other projects on the go as well.  Phil and Daryl are preparing to release "The Violent Drag" recording <http://www.myspace.com/theviolentdrag> and Fergal is producing some very exciting Irish bands called, "Walter Mitty and the Realists" <http://www.myspace.com/waltermittyandtherealists>  and "Last Days of Death Country" <http://www.myspace.com/lastdaysofdeathcountry>.

In conclusion, Signal Hill Records wishes to thank each of these incredible musicians for lending their talent to Velvetbox and for working so tirelessly to move things forward.  There has been such amazing growth and development and Velvetbox certainly has a very bright future ahead!!!  According to the press, Velvetbox is "the next Coldplay" (Xpress)....so that will tell you!!!  That said, it has come to our attention that due to personal commitments and professional directions, at the moment, that Velvetbox may not consist of the same members by the time of the spring release.  Time will tell.  A couple of things that are certain however, is Lawson Carroll will continue to be the voice of this amazing band following his side projects and that Fergal Lawler will remain in Ireland working his brilliance from behind the sound desk.

VERY EXCITING TIME!!!!!!!!

Hello dear friends!!!!


So by now you've heard some of the exciting news as Velvetbox continues to move forward, triumphantly, following the Industry Showcase!!!


Me taking time to follow through on my O Ambassador responsibilities is very important!!  Oprah and Craig and Marc Kielburger have entrusted me to this!!  ...And...you may remember that Velvetbox is dedicating, "Violet in the Snow" to the campaign!!!


...And the modeling and acting gig is a very cool one that will also have a residual value for Velvetbox.  It is going to provide licensing opportunities for VBOX and much more!!!!  In this business you have to strike while the iron is hot...and I made a decision to accept a couple of side projects with modeling and acting between now and the time the spring release comes out.  I am so excited!!!


With that...I will be extremely busy!!!!  With so much music industry attention...and business meetings...and spending time in the studio...and preparing videos for the spring, etc...I won't have much time to sleep!  ...but who needs much sleep anyway...when you can be immersed in a wonderfully creative world?!!!  I love the line by Arcade Fire..."Sleepin is givin in...no matter what the time is....sleepin is givin ...so lift those heavy eye lids"!!!!  I can't stop...I am a go getter...and I know all of you ...friends and fans ...will understand that!!!  Thank you!!!


The guys are doing other projects...and this is the perfect time for me to branch out a bit.  There has already been over $500,000 worth of production done on the recording that will come out in the spring...so no worries.  It is a piece of work I am very proud of...and of course...Velvetbox always puts its best foot forward and take great pride in the work...so it will be fantastic for you!!!  I can't wait to share it with you....and then come out there and see you all in person!!!!  It will be brilliant to connect!!! What I wrote on our dressing room wall just before we took the stage at the showcase.....is a testament to the way Velvetbox does things....and I know by all of your wonderful emails and messages that you appreciate that.  Here it is....
